Heerlijke show, en ditmaal super dichtbij in het theater in Oosterhout: De Bussel

Super show, lekker op z’n Brabants

Met een strakke Prezi en een overtuigende verdediging is het gelukt: Ellen heeft haar titel De tumor resectie ging wel iets minder subtiel, maar dat mocht de pret in de Effenaar niet drukken Proficiat!!

Interesting visualization conference in marvelous Bergen, Norway. After a short and ‘particular’ welcome ‘respesjon’ by the deputy mayor, the conference started of with a memorable keynote lecture by Scott McCloud (http://www.scottmccloud.com).  This was followed by a number of paper presentation in a wide range of visualization subjects. The social event took place on top of one of the mountains surrounding the city of Bergen. Unfortunately, a nasty cloud decided to provide some ‘ambient occlusion’, taking away the supposedly spectacular view. Nonetheless we had a wonderful dinner up there. The quality of this dinner was the precursor for the inspiring capstone lecture, provided by ‘the Meister’ on the last day of the conference.

After the conference, we took some time to set sail toward the fjords, enjoying the amazing nature. Finally, we were ever so kindly invited by mr Åsmund to spend a cosy evening, with a rooftop bbq and live music. Really enjoyed that!

Nice lunch at a restaurant called ‘Prinsheerlijk‘. The staff works with a part of intellectually disabled, providing a valuable work evironment. Good quality food and great ambiance.

After a traditional dinner at the Hardrock cafe (Ah yes, I still remember the menu. And the sinfully hot fudge sundae is back!), we went to the HMH. Bart arranged tickets for the Trans-siberian orchestra. A grand spectacle with light, smoke, pyrotechnics, violins… but above all: guitars! Amazing show, celebrating the anniversary of Beethoven with old school -rock-. And yes, laser light included

We have a newborn! Thijs is the handsome new member of our family. Enjoy

We decided to organize a movie night at the university. A revival of the good old tradition. Despite the extraordinary suggestion, we eventually ended up watching ‘Inception’.

The VIS deadline is closing by, so again this year a trip to London to evaluate our work

Crosslinx was a festival, providing various concerts spread over Eindhoven. We went to  ‘het Muziekgebouw’ at ‘de markt’. Gorgeous modern-style building with a large auditorium. The main act of the day: The National. So nice of them that the lead singer made a little stroll to ‘meet the fans’
